1. How much does a comprehensive eye exam cost?
There are dramatic differences in eye care providers; no other provider cares more about your eyes. At SPECS, we offer a comprehensive exam which includes the Optomap that takes a digital image of the retina. We encourage you to call the office for a one-on-one consultation. Variance in cost is based on your personal needs (contacts, glasses, etc).

2. What if my glasses are not fitting properly?
We make sure you are happy with your glasses. If there is a problem with the fitting, simply bring in your glasses, and we will adjust them to suit your needs. With over 40 years of experience, we have the knowledge and expertise to assist you with your adjustment needs.

3. What is Vision Source?

4. What is polarization?
Polarization reduces glare from the sun’s reflections and offers the best UV protection money can buy. Glare from flat surfaces like roads, snow or water is significantly reduced with polarization. Polarization even works on over-cast days where there is no diret sunlight and glare is relentless.

5. Do I need an appointment to pick up glasses or contact lenses?
No appointment is necessary. Once you receive a call from our office informing you that your glasses are ready, just come in during regular office hours to pick them up.

6. What does my vision insurance cover?
That varies widely by plan. Many insurance policies cover a comprehensive exam which includes, a healthy eye checkup, vision assessment, glaucoma screening, and a retina health check. Also, many vision insurance plans cover at least a portion of glasses/lenses OR contact lenses.

7. How often should I get my eyes checked?
• Children under five should have their first exam before their first, third, and fifth birthdays.
• Children 5-18 years, and adults over 55 years of age should have a comprehensive exam at least once a year.
• Adults ages 18 to 55 years should have a comprehensive exam at least every two years.

8. If I do not have vision insurance, can I still get my eye exam at your office?
Yes! If a patient does not have vision insurance benefits, it may be possible to utilize medical benefits under certain circumstances. This decision is made in the exam room by the doctor and cannot be determined prior to the office visit. If it is not possible to utilize medical benefits, we will still see you, we frequently offer special promotions for those without insurance benefits. Please remember, we cannot combine insurance benefits and a promotional offer at the same time; it must be one or the other. Cash payments are always welcome.
